Drove over 3 hours to Asheville to test drive the Tacoma, got there and was welcomed with open arms, talked logistics, went over CarFax, service records, inspected the truck and took it for a test drive. I’m not a mechanic and thought it ran fine. Once we got back to the dealership, started discussing money. I had a large down payment so I would keep my monthly payments low. The salesman brings in the financial manager, he was a hard sell on purchasing a warranty. With all the paperwork showing everything was up to date with servicing, no accidents, CarFax clean, I declined and they gave me a 30 day/1000 mile warranty. I put down close to $25,000 down and financed the rest. I left Asheville and headed home, 9 days later the truck hit 1000 miles and the check engine light came on, I took it to a Toyota dealership to have it checked, found out that the truck’s computer data had been deleted and the diagnosis report showed major engine damage, it had excessive ticking in the engine, cylinder 1 was damaged, crank case breather was damaged, exhaust valves seats and valve guides defective, needed passenger side cylinder head replaced and all passenger side exhaust valves replaced. It had air fuel ratio imbalance with 80% leak past the exhaust valves out of the crankcase breather. In all it was going to cost $8789.93 to fix the $31,000 Toyota Tacoma in purchased in good faith from Hyundai of Asheville. I called no one would speak with me, if I got the chance to speak with someone, everyone was too busy to talk with me. I emailed the manager, the sales manager and the salesman that sold the truck, the sales rep I worked with even blocked my cell phone number, I’ve still have gotten a reply. I finally talked with the finance manager, first thing he asked me was how many miles the truck had on it now, I told him it was turned over a 1,000 miles on day 9, his reply, should have purchased the extended warranty. I told him the Toyota technician told me that the truck had all this issues prior to my purchasing it and the data log had been deleted and at the 1000 mark the engine light came on and exposed all the damage and the truck should have never been on the lot and should have never been sold. I have reached out multiple times to Hyundai of Asheville with no one taking accountability, I just want them to pay for the repairs or at least half of the repairs to make this right. I got taken advantage of by a big corporation that makes millions a year, I don’t have that kind of money for a working class man. They say with a limited warranty, I bought the vehicle “as is”, which is in violation of the Implied Warranty of Merchantability Act which states a vehicle with concealed engine damage may not meet the standard, even sold “as is”. It also falls under the Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practice that protects consumers under law if deceptive practices in the sale of goods. I actually give them 0 stars because they refuse to talk with me about making this morally right. They knew what they were selling me and they were holding their breath that the check engine light wouldn’t come on before the 1000 miles. Do not buy from Hyundai of Asheville, they knew exactly what they were doing, no morals.

I am not the kind of person who wants to share their experience but decided that it is best to bring awareness to my experience. I recently went into this dealership this past week interested in purchasing a vehicle. First lets talk about my negatives. The New car sales manager named RYAN Nazionale is absolutely terrible at his job. He has zero customer services skills and zero compassion for customers. He is not interested in helping you get a deal and building a relationship with you. He is interested in making money and that it. He will not negotiate with you and the price of the vehicle on their website and add 2000 for the additional fees but he will not negotiate with you at all. Cassie was will to hear me out and listen to me and was willing to work with me and I appreciate that. But I kid you not while negotiating with Cassie to get the best deal Ryan YELLED from his office (the center class area in the middle of the dealership) that he was not interested in negotiating with me and the price is what it is or I could leave. I would seriously encourage Bill and Tom to review their selection of Ryan as their lead sales manager. I decided after being told this to walk away from the deal. But I knew a friend of mine who would have wanted to by the car and I directed them to the dealership(out of respect for Cassie and Ben and the rest of the Hyundai of Asheville team and not Ryan) in which they purchases the vehicle the next day. My bad experience is not reflected solely on the Hyundai of Asheville as a dealership but strictly the poor choice of management choices that shouldn't reflect the views of this dealership. Hyundai of Asheville states that they are dedicated to earning your business again and again. second off DO NOT TRADE YOUR VEHICLE INTO THIS DEALERSHIP. They have no interest in trade in vehicles what so ever. I was offered 1000 dollars total for Chevy Colorado with 90000 miles on it. This is completely unacceptable and showed me that they don't care about their clients just selling their vehicles. Even after the insulting offer I still chose to continue to pursue the Vehicle. . Finally I want to talk about my positive experiences. My sales representative Ben (who 100% deserves a 5 star for his excellent sales knowledge and experience.) did a fantastic job showing me the vehicle and giving me the knowledge about it. In addition to Ben I want to give a huge shout out to I believe her name was Cassie who was the manager I was working the price of the vehicle out with. She was willing to wiggle a bit and was willing to work with me. She was very fair and I really appreciated that. We are new to the area and it was the first time that we visited Hyundai of Asheville service department for my Palisade’s 60k mile service and new rear brakes. I was treated with respect and understanding regarding my budget and even the usual haggling ended up being fun! He helped me from start to finish to ensure that I had an affordable deal and the car I wanted! He made sure he answered every question I had and then some! Jacob Ritz, the finance manager, was also amazing and incredibly knowledgeable! Everyone there felt more like friends. After about 10 minutes, I forgot I was in a dealership! Whoever heard of the process of buying a car being anything less than a pain in the butt! Well, I’m here to tell you, if you want an awesome experience buying a car, go to Hyundai of Asheville and see Michael! You won’t regret it! And don’t forget to grab a cup of coffee from the coolest coffee machine with the best coffee from any business I’ve ever had!

I recently visited Hyundai of Asheville (Tunnel Rd, Asheville, NC) for oil change service and had for a second time a bad experience with Fred Retzlaff. After declining additional services—which I didn’t ask for or want—his attitude noticeably changed. He responded dismissively, and as I declined items again, he laughed aloud at me while walking away. This mockery made the interaction deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional. It’s disappointing, especially given how many other customers report courteous and respectful service at this dealership . Unfortunately, my experience with Fred Retzlaff was entirely contrary to that reputation. I hope Hyundai leadership addresses this behavior—customer service should never feel punitive or mocking. I will not return and can’t recommend this particular advisor.

Something just didn't feel right this time. There were 5 employees standing behind the counter just hanging out. It was bizarre. To replace one light on my Hyundai, the cost was over 900 dollars. It was a bit disappointing. The bill to fix my car was $6,000 dollars. I cannot afford that now. I'm a single school teacher. In the past when I have gone there, it was not as expensive. Something just didn't feel right this time. There were 5 employees standing behind the counter just hanging out. It was bizarre. To replace one light on my Hyundai, the cost was over 900 dollars. It was unbelievable. I'm not sure if they are not getting a lot of business, and they have had to raise their prices???? I was always thinking that I would go to this Hyundai dealership to purchase my next car. But now I have mixed feelings. I asked if it was worth it to purchase a new or used car, or to fix this car. But I didn't receive any response to that question. I would have liked it if they would have spoken to me about trade ins or purchasing a used or new Hyundai. But not one of the 5 employees hanging around and eating their McDonald's behind the counter even acknowledged me and my question. It was bizzare and off putting. I ended up leaving with my car because I did not have $6,000 to pay for the repairs. I ended up paying almost $200.00 for the diagnostic test.
